MSW to Hydrogen, Electricity, and Renewable Fuels (incl. SAF)

At the heart of our clean energy solution is ARTI’s advanced modular depolymerization technology, built on Resident Time Technology (RTT). This system transforms Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)—a blend of plastics, organics, paper, and textiles—into high-value energy products including:
  • Green Hydrogen
  • Electricity
  • Renewable Fuels
  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
  • Recovered Carbon Black (rCB)

How It Works

The RTT system uses a multi-stage thermal depolymerization process housed in a compact, modular design. Each unit includes three retorts that process feedstock in sequence:

Upper Retort
Rapid depolymerization of mixed waste streams.
Middle and Lower Retorts
Higher residence time and elevated temperatures ensure complete thermal breakdown and maximum energy recovery.

The result is syngas, a clean synthesis gas that can be upgraded into hydrogen, electricity, liquid fuels, or SAF through downstream processing. The system’s closed-loop design ensures:

  • Near-zero emissions
  • No water discharge – only clean, condensable water recovered
  • No hazardous ash or residue

Key Advantages

Scalable Output
Systems can handle 200–300 tonnes per day, with flexible modular expansion.
Decentralized Energy Production
Units can be deployed at landfills, waste facilities, or near industrial clusters for localized energy generation.
Byproducts with Value
Recovered carbon black and clean water support circular economy goals.
Turnkey Engineering
System design and operator training are supported by WSP, one of the world’s leading engineering and environmental firms.
